Please Come Prepared
The purpose of the student site is to provide information to students who are enrolled in one of our programs. Learning to sail, like all new endeavors, requires preparation. Preparing for the sailing adventure Drink plenty of water the day before sailing. With the wind and the sun, it's easy to get de-hydrated. Recommended Safety Items These items are recommended to all our students and staff. Remember, we are outdoors all day in Florida, it’s hot and sunny most of the time. To make your sailing experience a positive one, we recommend the following items:

Youth Camp Procedures
Procedure for Signing Campers in and out of Camp All children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian to the sign in table just outside our storage area at Indian Mound Park. No child will be dropped off or picked up in the parking lot. There will be a sign in / out sheet available for signatures in the morning and the afternoon. One of our volunteers is assigned the responsibility of the daily log signature sheet. Emergency contact numbers must be listed each day with the child’s name. Children will not be left alone in the event of a delayed pickup. If a pick up is delayed more than 1 hour, the child is brought to the YMCA in Englewood for safety until the parent/guardian is located. Two responsible adult ESA members will remain with child/children. Youth Bathroom Procedure Englewood Sailing has a strict youth bathroom procedure due to Indian Mound Park being a public park, and that the bathroom facilities are a distance away. Two background-checked adults will walk all campers, students, and those under 18 to the bathrooms in a supervised manner. We do a head count and keep a manageable number of no more than 6 campers per adult at a time. If a camper misses the call they wait for the return of the first group or another background checked adult will walk them. There are no exceptions. Vehicle Transport Procedure If it is necessary for an ESA member to use their personal vehicle to transport a youth, the member must ensure there is another adult member present in the vehicle. |
